Dr. Tieng's Medical Leave FAQ

Dr. Andrea Tieng deeply values the trust her patients have placed in her. Her temporary medical leave allows her to focus on recovery and return only when she can safely provide the attentive, high-quality care her patients deserve.

The office remains open to provide administrative assistance, help patients access their records, and explain available options for obtaining care during her absence.

Dr. Tieng is recovering from a personal medical condition and has temporarily stepped away from clinical practice. This decision reflects her commitment to patient safety and responsible care.

Yes. Staff are available during regular business hours to assist with scheduling questions, medical records, referrals, insurance matters, and other administrative needs.

No. Dr. Tieng is not currently providing office visits, procedures, medical advice, or active clinical management.

Patients who need care during her absence should consult their primary-care physician, another gastroenterologist, urgent care, or an emergency department, depending on the urgency of their symptoms.

Her return is anticipated for fall 2026, but the timing remains subject to her recovery and ability to resume her full clinical responsibilities safely and consistently.

Please do not delay necessary care solely to wait for Dr. Tieng’s return. Patients with ongoing symptoms, medication needs, abnormal results, or recommended follow-up should consult an available qualified healthcare professional.

The office can assist with records and information needed to support care with another provider.

Do not use the website, email, or office voicemail for an emergency. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for symptoms such as:

  • Severe or rapidly worsening abdominal pain
  • Heavy gastrointestinal bleeding or vomiting blood
  • Black stools with weakness or dizziness
  • Fainting or difficulty breathing
  • Severe dehydration
  • Any potentially life-threatening condition

Staff can receive refill requests and help patients determine the appropriate next step, but approval cannot be guaranteed. Some medications require evaluation or authorization from an actively treating clinician.

Please contact the office before your medication runs out. Do not stop or change a medication without guidance from a qualified healthcare professional.

Please contact the office for assistance locating results and determining the available next steps. Medical results must be interpreted by a qualified clinician, so you may be advised to follow up with your primary-care physician or another gastroenterologist.

Please call the office rather than postponing care on your own. Staff can assist with records, scheduling information, and referral options.

An actively treating clinician should determine whether a procedure or follow-up visit can safely wait.

Please contact the office for the required authorization form and instructions. Staff can assist with transferring records to another healthcare provider.
